Obituary: June Smith Hookway, 84

Worked at Spring City Knitting Mill; Parker Ford Church of the Brethren member; Feb. 27

June (Kimmey) Smith Hookway, 84, of Royersford, PA passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2013.  She was the wife of the late Charles M.O. Smith and Charles F. Hookway.  She and Charles would have celebrated 27 years of marriage on Saturday.

She was born in Lower Chichester Twp. to the late Isaac and Mildred (Battis) Kimmey.  June was a 1946 graduate of Smyrna High School, Smyrna, Delaware.  Mrs. Hookway was a licensed hairdresser and also worked in manufacturing for Philco and Spring City Knitting Mill.

June was an active member of Parker Ford Church of the Brethren.  She was a member of the Womens’ Fellowship and “Stitchers in Christ”.  Talented in needlework, she quilted many prayer shawls and baby blankets.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Charles Smith, of Folcroft; step-daughter, Joyce E. Irving, wife of Keith, of Stowe; step-son, Charles P. Hookway husband of Kim, of North Coventry; sister, Ruth Danes, widow of Kenneth, of Middletown, DE; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 4, 2013 at 10 AM at Parker Ford Church of the Brethren, 20 Rinehart Road, Pottstown, PA, 19465. Officiating will be Rev.  Josh Bytwerk. Calling time is from 9-10 AM.  Interment in Limerick Garden of Memories.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Parker Ford Church of the Brethren (In trust for Helping Hands Class) at the above address.  Online condolences may be offered at www.royersfordfuneralhome.com  Arrangements are by Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Royersford, PA.
