$17,000 for a Heater?!

A local homeowner recently paid $17,000 for a heater installation.  Apparently it was on an emergency basis and they didn't get more than one estimate.  The mega company they had install it used high pressure, next day installation tactics.  That is over$10,000 more than what a local HVAC company would have charged.

Horizon has a reputation for grossly overcharging for their work. Was the $17K heater installed by Horizon?

Speaking of the H. company has anyone been told they have a cracked heat exchanger and it will need another tech inspection at which they intend to shut off your gas, under the guise of allowing carbon monoxide into your home? I know two so far. Both were PROVEN wrong. They need an AG investigation into tech and sales training.

Try keeping your money local this area has many reputable, long standing HVAC companies, you just don't hear about them because they don't fly airplanes over your house with banners or flash LED stadium lights all over a professional soccer stadium. Local is usually a neighbor also who has been here for years.
