Morning Crash Closed Route 422 for Two Hours

Two hurt in the crash were taken to Paoli Hospital.

Two people were injured after their black sedan struck a parked PennDOT truck on Route 422 this morning. 

A press release from the Pennyslvania State Police identified the driver and passenger as Diane and Vincent DeCarlo of Douglassville. The DeCarlos had to be extricated from the car by rescue teams. Both were transported to Paoli Hospital in serious but stable condition. 

The PennDOT truck was parked on the side of the road. Its driver, John DeMichael, Jr. of Barto, was uninjured.

Police say the reason for the crash is unknown. The driver told police she "lost control of the car", according to the report.

Update 12:25pm

Route 422 was reopened just before 12:15pm. 

Update 11:35am:

Route 422 eastbound will be closed for at least another hour, according to radio reports. Traffic is stopped and very backed up. 

Traffic on side roads is also heavy due to the closure.

Scanner reports indicate a two-vehicle crash involving a car and a PennDOT truck has the eastbound lane of Route 422 closed from the Royersford/Trappe exit to the Collegeville exit.

The accident happened around 10am. Reports are that two people were trapped in the car; both were extricated by 10:45am and being transported to Paoli Hospital.
