Alleged Royersford Bank Robber Arrested: Police

Mark Morton, of the 200 block of Main Street, allegedly robbed a bank nearby his home.

A Royersford man was arrested for allegedly robbing the National Penn Bank just blocks from his last known address in the borough on Wednesday, according to Royersford Borough Police.

Mark Morton, 31, of the 200 block of Main Street, was charged with robbery, theft by taking, receiving stolen property, terroristic threats and simple assault after allegedly entering the bank at 793 Main Street and demanding money with a note.

The tellers complied, and Morton left the bank with $2,800, according to police. The money has not been recovered.

Morton did not give a formal statement, but allegedly acknowledged his role in the robbery; he was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $50,000 cash bail.

“Great job to all involved including Detective John O'Keefe, Officer Tom Godin and Officer Mark Smythe,” said police.
