Alleged Shoplifters Hide in Restroom Prior to Arrest

A Philadelphia woman and her two nieces are accused of stealing almost $700 worth of clothing from various stores.

Three Philadelphia women were arrested at the Philadelphia Premium Outlets on Thursday afternoon after allegedly stealing clothing from The Children's Place, Aeropostale, and The Loft stores, Limerick Township Police said in a statement issued earlier today.

Haylene Tempia Foster, 38, and her nieces, Vinedaya Tanaka Foster, 22, and Latasha Foster, 21, attempted to hide in a single occupancy restroom at the outlet mall after an employee of The Children's Place notified police that the woman had stolen items from the store, police said.

Police said they "confronted" the women, who surrendered to them.

Merchandise from all three stores as well as empty shopping bags from Justice and Charlotte Russe were recovered from the women's handbags, as well as a trash can in the restroom. Police said they recovered 43 articles of clothing valued at $672.98.

Police later found that Vinedaya Foster had five outstanding arrest warrants from Philadelphia and "several prior theft related arrests." Latasha Foster has "several prior retail theft arrests" and is on probation for a 2009 theft in Abington Township, police said.
