Area Man Heading to Jail After Breaking Into Home of Swinger Friends

An Upper Pottsgrove man will face jail for a 2009 home break-in incident of a couple that he met in a swingers' website.

An Upper Pottsgrove man is facing six-to-23 months in county jail for burglarizing the Pottstown home of a couple he met on a swingers website.

According to The Pottstown Mercury, Wayne Matthew Rafferty, 30, of Mauger’s Mill Road, was convicted of charges relating to burglary and sentenced to jail in 2010, and the Superior Court of Pennsylvania on Wednesday denied his appeal.

Beginning Sept. 3, Rafferty will spend his first 30 days in county prison and the rest under house arrest. He is also required to stay away from the couple, pay them $2,791 in restitution, and undergo any required counseling.

According to the criminal complaint, Rafferty and his wife met the victims on a swingers website in 2006 and "began a consensual adult sexual relationship” that lasted until 2008, when the relationship was terminated by the victims.

Some of the items stolen during the burglary include two laptops containing nude photos of the victims, Rafferty and his wife, undergarments, 15 to 20 bottles of wine, sex toys, and a crepe maker.
