Boy seriously injured by vehicle in Royersford [UPDATED]

The victim was transported to CHOP by helicopter.

A 10-year-old boy was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Walnut Street and 4th Avenue in Royersford at about 2:45pm Sunday afternoon.

Royersford police said a silver Ford Focus sedan was traveling westbound on Walnut Street and struck a boy on a bicycle. Police did not provide the boy's name.

Emergency medical personnel from transported the boy to the Spring-Ford 8th Grade Center, where he was transferred to a helicopter that took him to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. The boy's mother reportedly accompanied him on the helicopter.

Police said he sustained "multiple injuries." A report from a bystander that the boy sustained a broken arm, a broken leg, and a head injury could not be confirmed as of early Sunday morning. A spokesperson for CHOP could not provide an update on his condition.

Police said the operator of the vehicle was unhurt. It was not immediately clear whether charges would be filed.
