Driver Crashes Car Into Wine & Spirits Store

The early evening accident resulted in major damage to the storefront.

An as-yet-unidentified driver in a teal Mustang convertible drove his car up over the curb and into the front of the Wine and Spirits store on Ridge Pike on Thursday afternoon.

There was very visible damage to the front of the store to the left of the exit door. Employees stood outside with police, some looking shaken.

Limerick Police Sergeant Robert Matalavage told Patch that no one was injured in the accident.

"Luckily they were working the other register [further from the door]," Matalavage said.

However, the driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. "He was clearly impaired when we got here," Matalavage said. "There was a strong odor of alcohol and he failed field sobriety tests."
