Driver Under Influence in December Crash

A followup to the Dec. 13 Longview Road accident that resulted in a vehicle landing on the railroad tracks below.

According to Limerick Police Chief Bill Albany, blood results came back for William Carey, 56 of S. Sanatoga Road, who drove his car into an embankment on Longview Road on Dec. 13, 2011. The results showed a .202 BAC. Albany stated charges were filed in district court on Jan. 6.

In the initial report, Sergeant Ed Ciaciak said Carey claimed he swerved to avoid a deer on the road, which caused the 6 p.m. crash. It was also reported initially that Carey did show signs of intoxication at the time of the accident. He was flown to the hospital via Jefscat and was reportedly released the next day.
