Drunken Man Stumbled In Front of Police Car, Cops Say

The police vehicle had to swerve into oncoming traffic to avoid the man, according to the report.

A Limerick man was cited for public drunkenness after stumbling in front of a police car on Limerick Center Road, according to police.

A police car traveling on the street had to swerve into an oncoming lane to avoid striking a man who allegedly stumbled behind a large hedgerow of bushes on July 21 at 7:52 p.m., according to Limerick Township Police.

Police spoke to the 55-year-old Oak Lane man who said he was drinking at Gators at Limerick Bowl all night; the man’s blood alcohol level was .142, according to police.

When the man was dropped off at his home, where he lives with his 82-year-old mother told police that he was an alcoholic with liver disease.  The woman said she would “call the police and have him locked up” if he leaves the house any time in the evening, according to police.

The man was cited for public drunkenness.
