Emergency Call Leads to Burglary Arrest

A 9-1-1 call for a possible drug overdose led to an arrest on burglary charges for a Limerick resident on Christmas Day. 

Andrew Ridenour, 27, was found unresponsive and bleeding from the arm in his car outside the Needle Works Apartments by Royersford police after someone called for emergency medical help. 

Ridenour allegedly had baggies on his lap containing heroin. Royersford police officer Mark Smythe, who saw the baggies in plain view, also retrieved needles from the car that had blood in them. 

In searching the car, Smythe noticed a cash box and other items labeled Sunshine Cafe. Limerick Township police officer Brian Tyler, who had responded to assist Smythe, contacted other Limerick officers, who checked and saw that the Sunshine Cafe had been broken into. 

Limerick officers contacted Sunshine Cafe's owner, and she identified the cash box and the amounts of money that were allegedly taken from the business by Ridenour.

Ridenour was transported to the hospital and then remanded to Montgomery County Correctional Facility on a probation violation following his release from the hospital. 

According to police records, Limerick Township has filed burglary charges against Ridenour for the alleged Sunshine Cafe break-in. 

Royersford media relations officer Tom Godin told Patch that drug possession charges will also be filed. 

"It was a good cooperative effort by both departments," Godin said.
