Employee Allegedly Pocketed $9,600 at Outlet Store, Police Say

The employee was reportedly not ringing sales into the register.

An employee of the Lids store at the Philadelphia Premium Outlets was arrested and charged with felony theft, felony theft by deception and felony receiving stolen property after the store's manager discovered she was allegedly not ringing up sales in the store.

Charaye Diore Carey, age 20, of Bethlehem, was employed at the Lids store in 2012. From February 2012 to August 2012, she allegedly sold hats to customers without ringing up the sales, then would pocket the money.

Carey told police she had collected approximately $9,600 by selling store merchandise and had used the money for her rent and car payment.
