A dog provided to the Gladwyne Fire Co. from Willing Hearts Dalmatian
Rescue in Royersford has died.
Lucky, a firehouse dog who served the Gladwyne Fire Co. for 13 years, died after battling ongoing health issues for the past few months, according to the fire company.
“His best friends from the fire company were by his side in the final moments,” according to Gladwyne Fire Co.
The fire company obtained Lucky through Willing Hearts at 14 months old in 2001. In 2006, Lucky was named a “Life Member” of the company, an honor only given to one other fire company mascot, according to Willing Hearts Dalmatian Rescue.
The fire company said that community members are reaching out to help the fire company obtain a new mascot for the company, but the crewmembers need time to grieve Lucky’s loss.
