The owner had hoped to occupy the renovated house in about three weeks.

A fire heavily damaged a residential structure in the Linfield section of Limerick on Wednesday night.

The house was located on Trinley Mill Road, about 200 yards south of Main Street in Linfield.

The fire was well underway by the time the first responders arrived at the scene, according to Linfield Fire Chief Don Maleta, whose squad was training at the nearby Linfield Fire headquarters when the call was dispatched.

"Parts of the home were collapsing within minutes of arrival," Maleta said Thursday morning.

The unoccupied home was undergoing renovations, Maleta said, and the owner had hoped to take up residence in about three weeks.

Maleta said the home's location was a challenge in fighting the fire.

"Due to the remote location of the home and accessibility limitations, a water supply took a while to establish. Once established, crews knocked the fire down," Maleta said.

An incident status page operated by the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety indicated that units from Sanatoga Fire Company and Royersford Fire Company were assisting Linfield Fire Company at the scene.

Maleta said that county and state fire investigators were called to the scene "almost immediately," and that the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
