Hearing Waived in Russell Shooting

An update on the case between Limerick's Deputy Fire Chief and his alleged shooter.

SPRING TOWNSHIP — A Birdsboro man charged with attempting to kill a official who is also a local realtor and his girlfriend’s ex-husband, will go to trial after waiving his preliminary hearing Tuesday.

Christopher D. Yingling, 41, of 516 W. 2nd St., was returned to Berks County Prison in lieu of $400,000 cash bail after he waived his hearing before District Judge Ann Young.

Yingling is accused of shooting Glen Russell, the deputy fire chief with Limerick Fire Company, on Jan. 24 while Russell was in a vehicle in a parking lot awaiting a court-appointed meeting with his ex-wife, who was Yingling’s girlfriend.

There were no changes to the charges against Yingling or to his bail Tuesday. Neither Russell nor any members of Yingling’s family were present at court Tuesday...
