Limerick Man Cited For DUI After Ridge Pike Crash

Thomas Loughlin was allegedly under the influence of several drugs when he struck a vehicle.

A Limerick man is facing multiple charges after allegedly striking a vehicle while under the influence of several drugs and fleeing from the scene of the crash on the morning of June 27, according to Limerick Township Police.

Thomas Patrick Loughlin, 49, was allegedly traveling eastbound on West Ridge Pike around 8:10 a.m. in a green Toyota Corolla when he made a wide left turn onto North Limerick Road, driving into a lawn, over a metal street sign pole and finally striking a vehicle that was traveling eastbound on North Limerick Road, according to police.

Loughlin then allegedly fled the scene to his home on Limerick Road, where police located his vehicle in his driveway, according to a report.

Loughlin was allegedly unsteady on his feet, and told the responding officer that he was on “psychiatric medications.” When asked why he didn’t stop, Loughlin allegedly said he was “coming from Wawa and had things to do.”

A blood test found that Loughlin had several drugs in his system, including a metabolite of cocaine, and more than the therapeutic doses of Soma, a prescription muscle relaxant and sedative, an anti-anxiety and muscle relaxant agent, and Ambien, a sedative hypnotic, according to police.

Loughlin was cited with four counts of DUI, reckless endangering another person, accident involving damage to an attended vehicle, failing to stop and render aid, reckless and careless driving, according to court documents.
