Limerick Police Arrest 3 in Credit Card Scam

Three township Wawa stores were hit by alleged scam artists on October 9.

Three Philadelphia residents were arrested on October 9 in Limerick Township and charged with theft, identity theft and forgery after allegedly using falsified or stolen credit cards to purchase cigarettes and gift cards.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed in District Court 38-1-19, Charissa Reid and Zondra Holmes, both 49, and Eric Sackie, 22, all from Philadelphia, had gone to three Wawa stores and allegedly used multiple credit cards to make the purchases.

The Wawa stores, two on Ridge Pike and one on Lewis Road and Linfield-Trappe Road, were all victimized in a period of 32 minutes on the evening of the ninth.

In the affidavit, Corporal Fitz Duffy reported that he was approached by Wawa employees at the 451 West Ridge Pike store two weeks ago while working the day shift. The employees reported people making purchases with multiple credit cards. If a card was declined, the customer would use another card.

"They knew something was wrong with what was happening, but they didn't know what the scam could be," Duffy wrote.

Duffy wrote that the employees called police to report an identity theft, and when Duffy arrived he was told that Holmes had allegedly tried to use multiple cards and then left abruptly when asked for identification. Wawa employees described the car in which Holmes left.

Duffy sent another officer to the Wawa at Lewis Road and Linfield-Trappe Road, where Holmes and Sackie were found in the car described. The affidavit says that multiple gift cards and cartons of cigarettes were sitting in plain sight in the car.

Sales receipts and surveillance video showed that two women had reportedly made purchases seven minutes apart with the same card. Sackie had allegedly parked the car at both stores in an adjacent area, out of sight of employees and security cameras.

Sackie and Holmes were both arrested.

Reid was found while officers were going back and forth from the involved stores, according to the affidavit. As Reid was being transported, she allegedly tried to hide a marijuana pipe in the back seat of the patrol car.

All three were arrested and charged with multiple counts of forgery, theft by deception, identity theft, and possessing an instrument of crime. Reid was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bail for Holmes and Reid was set at $100,000. Sackie's bail was set at $75,000.

All three are incarcerated pending a preliminary hearing.

I can see where you can "assume" what type "those people" were but people like you are just as ignorant for posting such a comment. Last I checked, people of all races & creeds commit fraudulent crime hence why this country is where it is, having to bail out big shots, who I won't mention their "race" of course. But anyway, it isn't the first time and it won't be the last.

Well I see bigotry is alive and well, thank-you Henry!!! I clearly see people like you, Henry are still ignorant to the fact that CRIME doesn't discriminate!!!! Hello, it's 2012!!! I'm from Philly and as white as can be so, am I to be categorized also???? The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh and if you are gainfully employed ( I sure hope your not a boss or manager ) you better get down on your knees and say, thank you!!!! Karma is a B*%$@H

Thank goodness, someone else agrees! Ignorance is alive and "well" in 2012. Yes, there are a plethora of people coming from Philadelphia and New York to commit these crimes but imagine how many have probably gotten away with it. Yes, I also saw this article in the newspaper, and the people who committed this crime are of an African, Caribbean or what not background. But everyday there are folks, white, black, yellow, orange and purple committing crimes, whether there name is Susie or Lakisha. By the way I have one of "those" names, I'm mixed (African American and Caucasian) and I went to college, received my associate's and bachelor's degrees and started my own business. So let's not assume that all of "those" people are the dirt of the Earth. I'm sure you've done wrong in your life, how about you dig that up mister?

It doesn't matter wthwa(whothehellwereare) crime is going on at Kohl's, outlets, wawa, giant, gas stations. I hate when people assume because of a name or city.

it may not be right to catoragize but WHERE are these things coming from that do these crimes- mostly the one's I see are from filthydelfia and yes most are not white- the truth is the truth but you and other's don't want to hear the truth- yes all races commit crime but these outlets are plagued with idiots like the one's here in the article

@Henry. I think what you're missing, other than good grammar, is the fact all "races" commit crime. Where its true people of less money and from cities tend to commit petty crimes, I would argue that rich people from affluent areas tend to commit "white" collar crimes. These crimes can cost the people or our great nation more money than petty crime. Another point, someone has to grow up and realize that we MUST come together as a people. Never judge a person by their skin, beliefs, or ideas, learn about them as an individual. You will truly understand than how great of a nation we are.

I agree Chrissy. I wrote a post previously regarding how many local residents are actually employed by the outlets. I would venture a guess that many are residents of the city who work there and many who take public transportation. I am also curious as to how many shoppers at the outlets are actually locals. To me all the outlets have seemed to do in increase traffic, increase crime, and increase the need for a police presence in the outlet area.

If they chop hands off for stealing tens and hundreds, what do you chop off for stealing millions and billions.

Henry, if other races are stealing at the outlets as some here suggest - and I have no reason to doubt them - their names are not being reported. I often see reports of Philly residents and other urban folk caught stealing at the Limerick outlets, but local thieves are not being reported. Very curious.
