Local Man Sentenced For June 2011 Knife Attack

Injured wife and daughter with a knife

The Times-Herald reports that Upper Providence resident Terry Gene Simpson, 51, of the 100 block of Roboda Boulevard, was sentenced to 15-34 years in prison  and 10 years' probation for assaulting his wife and daughter with a knife in June 2011.

According to the Times-Herald, Simpson pled guily but mentally ill to charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault and possessing an instrument of crime, specifically a knife.

The prosecution said that the attack occurred while Simpson and his wife were going through a period of "marital discord". Simpson appeared to have planned the attack, said the prosecution, and told his wife they "were going to die together."
