Man Attacks Police Following Alleged Hit & Run

Schwenksville man charged with aggravated assault and other offenses

A Schwenksville man is facing charges of aggravated assault, DUI and other offenses after allegedly attacking police following an alleged hit-and-run in Royersford during the early morning hours of Friday, June 15.

Royersford Police said they found Alex Turner, 24, sleeping at Church Avenue and North Sixth Avenue in a vehicle that was believed to have been involved in an earlier hit-and-run on North Fifth Avenue.

Police said they initially had some difficulty rousing Turner, who then allegedly made multiple attempts to pull away from police and re-enter his vehicle.

It is then, police said, that Turner began to "rush" police and struck one of the responding officers with several punches to his chest and midsection. Police said they then used a Taser device on Turner to "slow him down" and subdue him.

"Soon after that, Turner seemingly gave up the struggle," Royersford Police Officer Tom Godin wrote in a report of the incident that was distributed to the media.
