Man Runs Stop Sign in Two-Vehicle Accident

The accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon.

A man from Lancaster driving a Dodge Durango ran the stop sign at the intersection of 9th and Walnut in the early 4:00 hour on Monday afternoon, causing a two-vehicle accident, minimal property damage to a residence and an injury to his leg.

According to Royersford Officer Tom Godin, the Dodge Durango was traveling north on 9th Avenue while a Toyota Camry was traveling west on Walnut Street.

"The driver of the Durango failed to stop at the stop sign, impacting the Camry," Godin said. "The cause of the accident at this time apparently is the driver of the SUV, to his admission. He said he was not from the area. He's actually from Lancaster and he failed to notice the stop sign and ran the stop sign to cause the accident."

The property owner at the corner of the intersection where the Durango crashed has not yet been notified. Police are working on getting in contact with him/her. Minor grass and tree damage was visible at the property.

According to Godin, both drivers were restrained and not on a cell phone when the accident occurred. Limerick Recovery towed away both vehicles and roads were reopened around 5 p.m.
