A Lansdale man was arrested after allegedly stealing more than $300 in baby formula from the Wegmans in Collegeville and leading police on a chase down Route 422.

Christopher Huck, 39, of Lansdale, was at Wegmans on Jan. 6 just before 1 p.m. when he allegedly put baby formula worth $332.43 in his bag and left without paying, according to the Pottstown Mercury.

Huck was seen driving a red Jeep at a “ridiculous speed,” police said, and ran through a red light to merge onto Route 422 East, according to police.

Three marked police vehicles followed Huck down the high way for les than 30 minutes. When the vehicle skidded out on the shoulder of Route 422, officers held Huck at gunpoint, according to the report.

Police said that Huck did not have identification, or permission to use the Jeep he was driving, which was owned by his girlfriend.

Huck posted $15,000 bail on Jan. 16. He is expected in court on Tuesday to answer to additional theft charges that were filed after a Dec. 23 incident in Hatfield.

Wow! I'm thinking "wow, he steals baby formula...maybe to find his infant because he's poor?" only to read it's over $300 worth AND he then can post bail for $15,000???? LOL...what a DOLT.

Angry at Wegman's--do you have to press charges like this! Come on, this guy must have been pretty desparate to do what he did. Not everyone has money. Would I have ever done that no way, I would ask for help, but not everyone can do that. Can't they let him do community service, or find out WHY he had to take this baby formula. We have people who do worse crimes and do not have to post bail for $15,000. There may be more to the story than what I have read here, but if it was just baby formula, have some understanding for this guy!

@Megan...Wegmans has every right and responsibility to us as consumers to press charges. People stealing like that forces higher prices on us as consumers. On top of that, a quick look at the guy's record on line shows a adult history of irresponsible behavior ranging from bad checks to driving while suspended. Also, possession of controlled substance (drugs), defiant trespass and other various charges. He came up with the bail necessary to get out of jail...I'm sure he could have come up with the money to buy formula and $331 of formula is an awful lot. Judging by his apparent lack of regard for others he most likely had the money to buy it.
