Lower Providence Township Police have charged a West Norriton man with possession of child pornography following an investigation stemming from an Oct. 3 incident where an officer on patrol reported that he came across the man with photographs on his computer, according to a media release from the police department.

Police reported that Terrence John King, 47, of the 2500 block of South Parkview Drive, was found in a white Chevrolet van in Audubon Recreation Field parking lot in Audubon around 10 p.m. The officer who approached the vehicle noted that no one seemed to be in the front seats and a blue-toned glow emanated from the back of the van.

As the officer went toward the van on foot, King exited. He told the officer that he had been viewing pornographic material on his computer.

The officer saw two photos of young, naked females on the laptop. Police took the computer into custody, and given to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office Montgomery County Detective Bureau for a forensic review.

King was released pending the results of the investigation.

The County Detective Bureau concluded that there were 14 images of child pornography.

Police charged King with 14 counts of possession of child pornography and 14 counts of criminal use of communication facility. The warrant was issued on Oct. 28.

King submitted himself to the Lower Providence Police on Oct. 31 and had his preliminary arraignment before Magisterial District Judge Edward C. Kropp, Sr. in the Pottstown courtroom.

King was taken to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in Lower Providence  in lieu of posting a $75,000.00 cash bail.

His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Nov. 11 in front of Magisterial District Cathleen Kelly Judge Rebar in Collegeville.
