Overturned Truck Blocks Ridge Pike

An afternoon accident leads to closures on Ridge Pike for about one hour on Tuesday.

A tanker truck was forced to a stopping halt on W. Ridge Pike on Tuesday afternoon and as a result overturned, causing roads to be blocked between Country Club Road and Royersford Road for about an hour.

Limerick Patch arrived on the scene around 2:30 p.m. and the truck had already been put back on its wheels. The windshield and windows were completely gone from the front and the steering wheel appeared bent.

Limerick police could not release too much information on the accident, but Chief Bill Albany said the driver, Anthony Rainey, 39, of Fleetwood, was trying to avoid a stopped vehicle in front of him, lost control of the wheel and turned the vehicle over. The truck had "Reading Site Contractors, Pottstown/Reading, PA" posted on the driver's side door.
