Two Men in Custody After Monday Argument

On Jan. 9 at approximately 3:43 p.m., responding Officer Tom Godin responded to the address of 463 Main St. in Royersford for a report of a disturbance. The report was a male attempting to break into another male's residence.

Upon arrival Godin said he was met by a male at Apartment 7. The male came outside of his apartment and closed the door behind him. The male identified himself as a Kevin Galbraith of Schwenksville. He stated that his roommate, Ben Walker came over to his mothers residence today because he was upset that Galbraith was moving out of the apartment.

While speaking with Galbriath, he stated that his roommate Ben Walker opened the window at his mother's apartment and reached his hand in the window and tried to get in and was yelling at him, placing his hand through the blinds into the apartment and then closed it and walked away.

Walker then opened the window again and threatened to throw his stuff out of the residence. Galbriath repeatedly told Walker to leave and get off the porch but he refused on multiple occasions. He then called police for assistance.

During their conversation, Godin noted Galbriath had a butterfly knife located in his front left coin pocket.

"I could see the top two or three inches hanging out of he top of the pocket," Godin said. "Gabriath was taken into custody for the prohibited offensive weapon and it was seized."

At the time, Walker was no longer on location. The weapon was examined and the butterfly knife had a burnt tip on the end of it.

At 5:49 p.m., Godin received a call to contact Walker in reference to his roommate being arrested. Godin reported he called and asked if he was speaking to Ben Walker and it was confirmed. Godin then asked him several questions in reference to the incident, to which Walker got "irritated" and advised Godin that he was "asking the [expletive] questions here!"

"At this point I disconnected the phone call," Godin said. "Walker called back three times, repeatedly in an annoying manner with no intent to solicit assistance from the police - only to annoy and alarm."

Godin also reported Walker said to Officer Mark Smythe that he was "a [expletive] pig" and that he was going to "come down there and kick his [expletive]."

Both Walker and Galbriath were taken into custody, arraigned and released on bail. Charges are pending a court date with Magisterial District Judge Walter Gadzicki.
