A look at last week's police activity in Limerick Township and Royersford, with a recent report of heroin use in Limerick and reports from the Pennsylvania State Police

Limerick

The Limerick Township Police Department logged 152 incidents between Sept. 12 and 18. Of the incidents, 13 were deemed false alarms.

Among the calls to which the police responded were the following incidents of note, along with a few reports from last week that have now been closed, and a final update of the heroin overdose that occurred on Wednesday night at the Philadelphia Premium Outlets

Three Men Arrested After Heroin OD

Limerick police got reports of three unconscious men at the Philadelphia Premium Outlets on Sept. 21 around 9:50 p.m. One man was outside of the car with his pants around his knees and the other two were in the car. Police Chief Bill Albany said the partially-nude man was probably trying to urinate and passed out.

Two of the men are from Lancaster and one from Punxsutawney. Two are 24 years old and one is 23. They were all transported to the Pottstown Hospital, where they were revived with anti-narcotic drugs.

Albany said empty bags of heroin, used syringes and illegal synthetic bath salts were found with the men. They were reportedly arrested  and taken into custody on charges of possession of a controlled substance.

Marijuana Use at Saylor Road Dead End

Patrolling police approached a parked car at the Saylor Road dead end on Sept. 8 around 10:18 p.m. Two boys, Bradley Reed, 19 of Schwenksville, and Daniel Bogle, 19 of Schwenksville, were inside.

Responding Sergeant Robert Matalavage approached the vehicle and sensed a strong odor of marijuana. Matalavage was granted permission by the boys to search the vehicle and came up with nothing. He reported he could still smell the marijuana and told the boys it would be in their best interest to tell him where it was.

They advised him where it was. Matalavage found a small amount of marijuana, a pack of Zig Zag rolling papers and a cigarette roller. There was also an empty bag used to hold the loose marijuana, which was field tested and confirmed to be marijuana. The two were cited by mail for drug-related disorderly conduct.

Two Minors Steal $300-plus of Merchandise from Outlets

Police were dispatched to the Philadelphia Premium Outlets on Sept. 18 at 7:40 p.m. after receiving a call from a witness at Steve Madden. The witness described the thieves as two black females with grey head wraps, carrying a green bag with "PINK" written on it, used to steal a pair of black Trouser style female shoes valued at $49.95.

The girls were located by police and positively identified by the witness. They were found to be 13 and 15 years old from Philadelphia and stole $363.29-worth of unpaid articles of clothing, including the shoes and 10 pieces of clothing from Aeropostale, eight from The Children's Place, one from Adidas, three from Carter's and one from Polo Ralph Lauren, as well as the shoes from Steve Madden.

Man Steals $300-plus in Merchandise from Nike

Police were dispatched to the Nike store at the Philadelphia Premium Outlets on Sept. 17 around 4:35 p.m. on suspicions of retail theft. The caller described a black male wearing a blue shirt and a Phillies hat going in stores, taking bags and carrying them out to his Green Buick, which was described as a common trick for stealing from stores.

Upon contact with responding Sergeant Robert Matalavage, the male, David Wesley Mills, 23 of Philadelphia, admitted to stealing $389.94-worth of shoes from the Nike store. Mills was charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property.

Limerick Man Cited for Underage Drinking

Brandon Patrick Hadfield, 19 of Limerick, was cited for underage drinking on Sept. 18 around 2:46 a.m.

Royersford police had earlier reports of a "large underage drinking party" on 3rd and Main in Royersford. Several juveniles fled the area on foot, according to the report. Hadfield was seen walking up N. Lewis Road and thumbed toward responding Officer John Kehoe's vehicle for a ride. He revealed a .192 BAC level and was released to his mother after being issued a non-traffic citation for underage drinking.

The following cases were submitted to Patch by Police Chief Kevin Schurr.

Woman Intoxicated While Caring for Children

Police responded to a "well being check" of children at the Alison Byrne residence in Royersford on Sept. 18 around 3:30 p.m. Upon arrival, police were greeted at the door by small [unattended] children.

Caretaker and parent Alison Byrne, 44 of the 600 block of Church Street, was discovered upstairs in a bed sleeping. Byrne exhibited signs of heavy intoxication and was tested on scene and discovered to be over three times the legal limit for a DUI. The Montgomery County Office of Children and Youth was contacted and police were directed to take custody of the children, who were then turned over to another responsible adult via the office of OCY.

Byrne was discovered to be on Berks County probation and a detainer was lodged against her for a probation violation. Byrne was lodged at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility and charges of endangering welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person were filed against Byrne.

Domestic Assault

On Sept. 20 at 10:45 a.m., police responded to a domestic assault at a residence in the 200 block of Green Street. Upon arrival, police were met by victim Klare Fargas, 40, and her boyfriend, Timothy Morales, 23.  A verbal argument had occurred between the two, which escalated to Morales physically grabbing and assaulting Fargas. She displayed a large laceration on her forehead, a broken tooth, and various minor related injuries as a result. Morales was arrested, removed from the scene and taken into custody. He was subsequently lodged at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. He was charged with simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, disorder conduct for fighting, and harassment by physical contact.

Limerick Man Charged with Possession

On Sept. 17 around 3:39 a.m., William Scott Gourely, 47 of Limerick, was found in the parking lot of the Dutch Tavern in Skippack. An investigation revealed he was in possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was charged with drug and drug paraphernalia possession.

Vehicle Crash in Limerick Due to Hydroplaning

A vehicle crash occurred at mile-marker 180.5 on 422 West on 1:52 a.m. on Sept. 7. Huong and Trung Do, 57 and 28 of Reading were in the car when they lost control due to hydroplaning. The vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck the guide rails.
