Aluminum Thefts Prevalant Over the Holidays

It was reported this week that two localities were robbed of a large amount of aluminum. It is believed that in the last week of December, Bekins Moving and Storage had 70 aluminum beams, 102x4-inches, taken from them. The beams are used for various supports while transferring items on trailers. They were taken from five trailers and the estimated value was $1,400.

Mailboxes Complete, on W. Ridge Pike, also reported old scrap aluminum mailboxes being stolen on Jan. 9. The mailboxes were worth an estimated $200.

Philly Men Steal Over $1,000 in True Religion Jeans

On Jan. 12 at 5:01 p.m., Officer Shawn Pancoast was dispatched to the Philadelphia Premium Outlets for a retail theft in progress.

An employee of reported two males selected various pairs of jeans from the store and exited without paying. The alarm sounded and the employee chased them through the parking lot. He reported he lost them as they went into the cornfields across Lightcap Road.

The employee showed police a Nike bag with the stolen jeans in it, eight pair, valued at $129.99 a piece, along with an old sweatshirt.

At 5:54 p.m., police observed a man come from the woods toward the parking lot of the outlets. His clothes were reportedly wet and sneakers muddy and he was only wearing a t-shirt and jeans. He told police he had taken off his sweatshirt and left it in the woods. He was positively identified as one of the actors by the employee.

Police identified the man as Andre Terrell Walker, 20 of Philadelphia. He was placed in a cell over night and charges for retail theft are pending. The other man was never found. The jeans' total value was $1,039.92.

Royersford

Golf Cart Stolen and Recovered, Thief Still on the Loose

On Jan. 13 at 3:45 p.m., police responded to a report of a theft of a motorized "golf cart" maintenance vehicle from the housing complex of The Point at River Glen on First Ave. The cart contained miscellaneous tools and work materials, and its total was valued at about $7,000.

On Jan. 14, the same golf cart - minus the tools - was recovered along the Spring City sewer plant area. There was some visible damage to the cart and it had to be towed from the scene. It is believed the cart was driven across the Schuylkill River Bridge by the responsible party. Anyone who may have observed this activity is asked to phone police.

The same report was sent in by Spring City Police, confirming the incident.

Midnight DUI in Royersford

On Jan. 14 at midnight in the area of Lewis Road and main Street, Brian M. Johnson, 24 of Royersford was observed by patrolling police as driving in an erratic fashion.

The vehicle traveled south on Lewis Road, where it was again observed to drive in an erratic fashion. A traffic stop was conducted and the operator was issued field sobriety tests. Johnson was subsequently placed under arrest for suspected DUI and taken for breath testing - results yielded a .190 BAC level.

Spring City

Vehicle Vandalism and Theft at Complex

During the overnight of Jan. 13 through Jan. 14, several vehicles were ransacked in the parking lots of the High View Apartments located on Cedar Street. A computer, messenger bag and a 9mm handgun were also removed from one of the vehicles. These incidents are still under investigation.
