Police: Man Steals Deodorant from Redner's, Fights Store Managers

Police say when they arrived, the man was pinned to the ground and screaming.

A Spring City man was arrested on Friday after a shoplifting attempt led to a tussle with Redner's Market security, East Pikeland Police are reporting.

Timothy Carlton Jarmon, 22, faces charges of robbery, two counts of simple assault, retail theft, and two counts of recklessly endangering another person stemming from the September 28 incident.

According to court documents, on September 28 at 4:01 p.m., officers responded to Redner's for a report of a retail theft. When they arrived at the store they found two of its managers and a loss prevention specialist holding Jarmon to the ground while he screamed. The loss prevention specialist and one of the managers were both bruised and bloodied.

Jarmon was cuffed and, as he cursed and spit at officers, removed from the store.

Later, the loss prevention specialist explained to police that he had watched Jarmon conceal stationery, deodorant, and cat food when he came into the store that afternoon. He waited for him to purchase some additional items at the counter before apprehending him.

The man said that Jarmon was then taken into the manager’s office, where he denied everything despite having the goods in his pockets. When the manager said he was going to call police, Jarmon got physical: he charged the two men and began striking them in the face before he was wrestled to the floor.

(Officers later found blood on the office floor.)

Timothy Jarmon was arrested, arraigned, and released from Chester County Prison on $20,000 bail. He faces preliminary hearing on October 4.

The total value of the items he stole was estimated at $10.
