Police: SC Rapper Arrested for Harassing 100.3 FM Employees... Again

Benjamin Russell, aka "Never Jealous," is suspected of threatening employees of Radio One in Conshohocken, after he pleaded guilty to harassing them in May 2011.

A 39-year-old Spring City man who goes by the rap name "Never Jealous" is back in trouble with the law after harassing radio producers for the second time in a year.

According to a police report, Benjamin Russell, of the 400 block of S. Main Street, Spring City, entered the Conshohocken-based offices of Radio One on April 17 and began to harass employees. Russell was wearing a noose around his neck and told employees he was there to prove his innocence of previous crimes, the report said.

Russell was first arrested in May 2011 after he called and approached two DJs of the company's popular 100.3 "The Beat" station and demanded that they play his music, according to the Springford Reporter Valley Item.

Russell had approached station employees as early as 4:30 a.m. while they arrived for work, and they described him as "looking for attention," according to the article.

Court records show Russell pleaded guilty to charges of harassment and disorderly conduct stemming from the incidents in November 2011, and that he was sentenced to six to 12 months in prison followed by two years' probation upon his release, with an order not to contact the two radio hosts. However, court records show that a motion for parole was granted just a few weeks later on December 8, 2011.

Russell was at it again on April 17, 2012, the recent report alleges. At approximately 10 a.m., Whitemarsh Police received a call from a station employee who stated that Russell had entered the building, was wearing the noose around his neck, and that he told employees "he did not want anyone to die."

Upon arrival, officers located Russell in a sitting area near the fourth floor elevators, talking to the producer of the station's morning show. After detaining Russell, police spoke with employees, who said Russell was attempting to prove his innocence of his prior crimes, and that he gave a copy of a news article about his arrest to the station's manager.

In addition, one employee alleged Russell told her that if Radio One did not "do something," that he was going to FOX News and "someone was going to die."

Upon speaking with Russell, police said he told them he was innocent and was there to prove that his arrest was a misunderstanding. At one point, Russell was also rambling and making "no sense," and also told police that he was wearing the noose to show his innocence, the report said.

Russell was arrested and transported to the Whitemarsh Police Department and charged with making terroristic threats, the report shows. County court records do not yet indicate a set trial date, although they do show that two delinquency notices were filed in February 2012 after Russell failed to adhere for a payment plan for $956 worth of court fees.

Russell also has a criminal history that includes a jail sentence in 2007 for intent to deliver cocaine, simple assault, and making terrorists threats.
