Police Warn About Home Improvement Scam Artists

Two men soliciting fled when asked to produce ID by off-duty officer

According to a post on the Limerick Township Police Department's Facebook page, an off-duty law enforcement officer was approached by two men yesterday who were soliciting roofing repair work.

The officer recognized the two men, described as both in their 40s with heavily tattooed arms, as "home improvement scam artists". The two suspects fled after the officer asked them to produce identification.

They were driving a black pick-up truck with a PA license plate. The officer reported that the plate number was similar to OLG0182.

The police department reminds residents to call 911 if you see something suspicious or are approached by suspicious people.

As a general rule, if it to good to be real, its not. People get greedy when they hear a good price/story. If your really going to have work done to your house, I would approach the workers- not the other way around. They also maybe checking out the turf for potential burglaries too.

LOL...I know someone who was approached about buying a TV that they had "one too many" placed on the truck and they couldn't take it back to the warehouse. He paid $200 for a new TV, got it home and it didn't work...LOL.
