Police: Woman Slits Wrist After Fender Bender

After being escorted from a bank by police, the woman struck a police car as she was leaving the premises

A woman was hospitalized Tuesday evening after she slit her wrist following a parking lot collision with a Limerick Township police cruiser, police said.

Limerick Township police chief William Albany said the unidentified woman was involved in a dispute inside the TD Bank branch in the Lakeview Shopping Center on South Township Line Road. Police were called to the scene to escort the woman out of the bank.

"We got the woman to leave, but as she was backing out of the [bank] lot she hit a police car," Albany said via email Tuesday night.

Police stopped the woman's car following her collision with the police cruiser. As police were recording her insurance information, Albany said, the woman used an unspecified object to slit her wrist.

The woman was transported to Pottstown Memorial Medical Center for treatment and a psychiatric evaluation.
