Police have arrested a Donna Spencer, 45, of East Vincent, in an alleged assault/robbery that took place at shortly after 3 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.
Royersford Officer Tom Godin said the victim identified Spencer right away.
"Spencer allegedly struck the victim over the head with a barbell and stole cash
and a cell phone from him," Godin said in the police report. "A perimeter was established and Limerick Township K-9 responded. A track was done and lost on Main Street."
According to the report, Spencer made her way to Phoenixville where she was reportedly apprehended by the Phoenixville Police Department to the rear of the West End Fire Company Bridge Street in the area of Chester Street.
"Spencer is currently in Royersford Police custody and a fugitive from justice from the Chester County Adult Probation," Godin said. "No formal charges have been filed at this time. This incident has been turned over to Royersford Borough Police Department Detective Division who are on the scene now for investigation."
There were initial reports of the robbery being at knifepoint, but Godin said that is still under investigation. Godin did confirm Spencer left a knife at the scene of the crime when she fled. The approximate amount of cash stolen was $500, although the exact number was not confirmed. The stolen cell phone was also recovered.
Police said the male victim was taken to Pottstown Memorial Hospital. There was no immediate update on his condition.
