Royersford Man Pleads Guilty in Cell Phone Theft

The phone was taken from a Verizon Wireless store.

A Royersford resident pleaded guilty in Montgomery County Court on April 23 to stealing an Apple iPhone from an Upper Providence Verizon store.

Michael Charles Kohl, age 27, of the 200 block of Main Street, was sentenced to three years' probation and is required to pay back the $649 value of the phone. Kohl pleaded guilty to a first degree misdemeanor count of theft.

The 2012 theft was noticed by employees of the store, who reported it to authorities. Police were able to track the phone to Kohl, who later admitted to selling the phone on Craigslist.
