UPDATE: Better Description on Rofo Bank Robber

Police responded to a robbery in Royersford on Thursday afternoon.

ROYERSFORD — The National Penn Bank on the corner of North Lewis Road and Main Street was robbed by a man who presented a demand note to a teller Thursday afternoon and fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money, police said.

The robber was described as a white man between 30 and 40 years old, with brown hair and a beard, wearing blue jeans, a black or dark blue hooded jacket, clear glasses and a “Jeff cap” style hat, police said. Police noted he is approximately 6 feet tall and described as having an average build.

The following report came from Brandie Kessler and Frank Otto of The Pottstown Mercury.

ROYERSFORD — A robber slipped a teller a note at a bank in Royersford before 2:30 p.m. Thursday and fled on foot with cash.

According to Royersford police, the National Penn Bank on the corner of Lewis Road and Main Street was robbed.

Limerick Police were asked to set up a perimeter in the area to try and head off the suspect and a K-9 unit was dispatched to comb the area to help turn up the thief.

Royersford Police were still on scene at 3:45 p.m. and the bank was closed "due to an emergency" according to a sign on the door. We'll have an update later on.
