Drunk Guy Carries on Inside Cop Car

On May 27 at approximately 10 p.m., Officer Tom Godin reportedly encountered an intoxicated male in the 300 block of Main Street. Godin said the man was walking on the sidewalk and almost into the street. Police then allegedly witnessed the vehicle swerve to avoid hitting the man.

Police stopped the man and said he had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his person, glassy bloodshot eyes and was incapable to standing upright without swaying back and forth.

He was advised by police he was under arrest for public intoxication. Officer Joe Oberholtzer attempted to handcuff the man, now identified as Dan Luther, 40 of Main Street Royersford.

Godin said Luther physically resisted arrest, swinging around to engage police. Godin and Oberholtzer were able to handcuff him and place him in the vehicle. Luther was allegedly screaming profanities.

Once in the vehicle, police said Luther began banging his head against the glass of the window. Luther was arraigned and was incarcerated on $10,000 straight bail. Luther was charged with public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Officers Suspect Marijuana After Speeding Violation

On May 28 at 1:30 p.m. Officer Tom Godin stopped a vehicle for a speeding violation in the 600 block of 2nd Avenue. The driver was identified as Stephen Pagnotti, 26 of N. 3rd Avenue.

Godin said he observed a smell of burnt marijuana emanating from the vehicle and subsequently located a marijuana smoking pipe. Pagnotti was cited for disorderly conduct and released. The pipe was seized.
