Royersford Woman Pleads Guilty to $1.8M Tax Fraud Plot

A Royersford woman pleaded guilty to filing false claims and mail fraud after conspiring to file false federal tax returns with stolen identities, according to court documents.

The Associated Press reported that Stephanie Peterson, 41, pleaded guilty on Friday to participating in filing more than 180 false individual federal income tax returns, seeking refunds of $1.8 million.

Peterson faces a maximum of 20 years in prison after her March sentencing.
