Skippack Man Jailed After Stealing $28K from Local Homes

A Skippack man, formerly of Trappe, was sentenced to jail after pleading guilty to multiple burglaries in the Perkiomen Valley and Limerick that netted him over $28,000 in stolen goods.

Benjamin Troy Lopez, 21, of the 1000 block of Cemetery Road, was sentenced to 11 ½ to 23 months in county jail and eight years of probation after admitting to the break-ins between February and June of 2013, according to the Times Herald.

The burglaries and attempted burglaries occurred in Schwenksville Borough and Limerick, Skippack, Perkiomen, Upper Salford, Lower Frederick and West Norriston Townships, where Lopez stole firearms, cash, copper piping, jewelry and electronics.

Lopez was first arrested in in May 2013 on four counts of burglary and was released on $5,000. In July, Lopez was arrested again for committing four more daytime burglaries between June 14-23.

As a condition of Lopez’s sentence, Judge Wendy Demchick-Alloy ordered Lopez to pay $28,394 in restitution, and must be paroled directly to an impatient drug treatment program.
