Spring City Man Started Fire in Apartment, Police Say
Kirk P. McLaughlin, Jr is facing several charges stemming from the Friday morning fire.
A Spring City man is facing arson charges after allegedly starting a South Church Street house fire and jumping out the window, according to Spring City police.
The fire began Friday at 8:15 a.m. at 327 South Church Street, and was battled by members of the local fire companies.
According to police, a caller reported a fire at 327 South Church Street around 8:17 a.m., adding that a white male left the home from a window and casually walked away from the burning structure.

The caller identified the man as a white male in his 20’s wearing khaki shorts and a grey shirt, carrying a backpack; East Pikeland, East Coventry, East Vincent and Phoenixville police began canvassing the area.
Kirk P. McLaughlin Jr., who lived in the apartment, was located at Hunsberger Road, roughly a half mile from the fire scene, fitting the description of the driver.

McLaughlin was placed under arrest after further investigation and charged with arson of an inhabited structure, arson which involves danger of death or bodily injury, arson that places property in danger, causing or risking catastrophe and criminal mischief through employment of fire.
