Spring City Man Struck, Killed on Turnpike

Eric Polchin was apparently walking along along the turnpike late Monday night when he was hit.

A Spring City man was killed Monday night after he was struck by a semi truck along the Pennsylvania Turnpike, the Pennsylvania State Police said. 

According to a report by NBC10, Eric Polchin was walking along the eastbound side of the turnpike near mile marker 326 (the Valley Forge interchange) when he was reportedly hit by a semi driving by 72-year-old John Mathews of Trout Run, Pa., reportedly struck Polchin at about 10:50 p.m.

When police arrived, the report says, they found Polchin dead in the center lane and Mathews stopped on the side of the road. The State Police are still investigating the accident. Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to contact the Pennsylvania State Police.
