Spring City Teen Arrested on Crack Charges

Kalin Nathan Thomas, 19, faces multiple charges.

A Spring City man was arrested on drug charges early Friday morning after a routine traffic stop revealed him to be in possession of 12 bags of crack and cocaine, East Pikeland Police are reporting.

Kalin Nathan Thomas, 19, stands charged with drug possession with intent to distribute, two counts of possession of a controlled substances, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of tampering with evidence, buying alcohol while underage, and permitting an unlicensed driver to operate his vehicle.

According to court documents, an East Pikeland Police officer pulled over Thomas’ car near the intersection of Fillmore Street and Township Line Road on September 21 at 1:24 a.m. for having a brake light out. The officer determined that the vehicle’s driver, a woman identified as Jessica Iezi by her Social Security card, didn’t have a driver’s license and, while in conversation with Iezi, noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. Iezi explained that she was driving the car because Thomas was drunk.

The officer removed Thomas from the vehicle to investigate the possible underage drinking violation and found he was unsteady on his feet.

When the officer returned to the vehicle to get more information from Iezi, he noticed a small pink plastic bag containing what appeared to be either crack or cocaine sitting on the passenger seat Thomas had just gotten up from. The officer then saw Thomas making suspicious and furtive movements by the vehicle’s rear.

The officer placed Thomas under arrest and searched his person. He found $141.60 in cash in his pockets and then searched under the vehicle and found 11 more small bags of either crack or cocaine. (The bags were field tested at the Pottstown Police Department and were positively identified as containing crack and cocaine.)

Thomas was arraigned that morning and posted bail. He faces preliminary hearing on October 4.
