Stolen Items, Drugs Found on Man Living Under Spring City Bridge, Police Say

Alex Jonathan Hartzell allegedly fled the scene before Spring City Police caught him.

A homeless man was arrested after Spring City Police found him living under the Spring City-Royersford Bridge, allegedly in possession of stolen iPods and drug paraphernalia.

Alex Jonathan Hartzell, 21, was found sleeping among trash that was inside the bridge abutment area of the Riverfront Park area in Spring City on Sunday, where “No Trespassing” signs are posted, according to Spring City Police Chief Anthony Kuklinski.

After speaking briefly with the Spring City police officer  who approached him, Hartzell then fled from the scene, police said; he was caught shortly after.

Hartzell was allegedly found to be in possession of stolen iPods, a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and was charged with trespass, escape, resisting arrest, receiving stolen property, drugs and related charges.

Hartzell was sent to the Chester County Prison in lieu of $2,500 cash bail.
