Teen Pleads Not Guilty to Charges in Limerick Jogger’s Death

Justin Jackson, of Lower Pottsgrove, is facing homicide by vehicle, DUI, and texting while driving charges, stemming from a Lewis Road crash that killed Merinda Thompson in March.

A Lower Pottsgrove teen has pleaded not guilty to charges that he was distracted and high on marijuana when he struck and killed jogger Merinda Thompson on Lewis Road in Limerick on March 4.

Justin Matthew Jackson, 18, of Walnut Ridge Estate, waived his arraignment in Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas last week, and he entered a plea of not guilty to charges of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, homicide by vehicle, DUI, unsworn falsification to authorities, recklessly endangering another person, prohibiting text-based communication and possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to the Pottstown Mercury

Jackson, who was attending Spring-Ford Area High School at the time of the crash, is now awaiting a pre-trial conference in late July.

As previously reported on Patch, Jackson was traveling northbound on North Lewis Road on March 4 who was jogging traveling north in the southbound shoulder of the road.

At the time of the crash, Jackson was allegedy under the influence of marijuana and was texting.
