Medical helicopter lands near Spring-Ford High School

Update: The two injured athletes, both from Octorara High School, were evaluated by physicians and sent home on Wednesday night, according to Spring-Ford spokesperson Phil Ellingsworth.

A medical evacuation helicopter landed near Spring-Ford Area High School on Wednesday evening after what emergency dispatch reports described as a collision between two female field hockey players.

The accident reportedly took place at about 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, during warm-ups before a field hockey game in the football stadium.

A discussion on the Limerick-Royersford-Spring City Patch Facebook page included one reader who stated that both players were from Octorara High School.
