UPDATE: Driver in Crash OK

According to Limerick Sergeant Ed Ciaciak, the occupant of the vehicle that crashed into an embankment on Longview Road after 6 p.m. on Tuesday is OK and will be staying overnight at Paoli Hospital.

The victim, William Carey, 56, of S. Sanatoga Road, reported to police that he was trying to avoid a deer, which is why he swerved. Ciaciak noted Carey did show signs of intoxication. His blood was withdrawn at the hospital and will be tested. Results should come later in the week.

As a correction to earlier reports, Carey was not taken to the hospital via Trappe Ambulance, but was flown by Jefscat, a medical helicopter. Carey's injuries are not life-threatening, although he will be kept overnight.

There were no other individuals involved in the accident.

Police are investigating a single vehicle accident on Longview Road by the Wastewater Plant in Limerick. Sergeant Brian Skelton confirmed that one man was taken to the hospital by . He was alert and conscious when he was taken from the scene but no further details on his condition could be released.

Responding officers contemplated if the vehicle was speeding down the road when it may have veered off, onto only two wheels and into the embankment where the railroad tracks are. Fire officials confirmed the railroad track has been closed until the vehicle is towed away.
