Marijuana Plants Found in Royersford Man’s Home, Police Say

Daniel Hoffman, 33, was allegedly growing marijuana in his back yard and with an indoor growing system.

A Royersford man was arrested Tuesday after an officer found potted marijuana plants in his back yard and an indoor marijuana growing system, paraphernalia and a gun in his Roboda Drive basement, according to Upper Providence Police.

Daniel Hoffman, 33, was charged with manufacturing marijuana, a felony, along with other misdemeanors after an investigation into the use, possession and manufacture of marijuana in his home by the Upper Providence Township Police Department throughout the month of June.

According to police, three marijuana plants were growing in black-colored plant pots in the back yard of his home.

In his basement bedroom, there was a small indoor marijuana growing system, made from cardboard boxes and a grow lamp, a colt .22 caliber rifle, marijuana seeds, a plastic bag with marijuana, a box with drug paraphernalia and five boxes of .22 caliber ammunition, according to police.

There were two pay stubs with his name on it and a note on the back that stated “seeds are ready,” police said.

According to police, Hoffman also violated Pennsylvania law by manufacturing marijuana in a Drug Free School Zone, as his Roboda Boulevard home is located within 250 feet of a community playground.

In addition to the felony, Hoffman was charged with possession of a controlled substance by a person not registered, possession of marijuana, and possession od drug paraphernalia; he was released on $15,000 bail.
