Whitpain Township Police said the hunt is on for two armed men who robbed Whitpain Tavern at 2 a.m. Monday and abandoned their getaway car near the campus of Montgomery County Community College.

Police and K-9 are searching along Route 202 and peripheral roads around the college. The college will reopen at noon.

CBS3 reported the robbers fled in a stolen red Mustang after robbing the tavern on the 1500 block of DeKalb Pike.

6abc.com reports that the masked men entered the bar before closing time and made off with a safe.

Police said the Mustang was found down an embankment near the college. 6abc.com reported police chased the vehicle and used a spike strip to stop the car. The driver of the stolen Mustang swerved to avoid the strip and crashed through a fence on the campus.

The college is on lockdown. Start of classes has been delayed until noon because of police activity, according to a message sent by the college on Twitter.
