Limerick Township Tax Collector Ryan Wall will hold three seminars to educate residents on Pennsylvania’s Property Tax and Rent Rebate program.
The programs will be held Oct. 7, 10 and 16 at 7 p.m. at the Limerick Township building.
The rebate program is eligible to all Pennsylvanians age 65 and older, widows and widowers age 50 and older and people with disabilities age 18 and older.
The income limit for the program is $35,000 a year for homeowners and $15,000 annually for renters.
Wall points out that half of Social Security payments are excluded concerning the $35,000 or $15,000 caps.
“[Residents] hear about the $35,000 cap, and they assume no income is excluded,” Wall said. “I think for a lot of people dependent on social security, excluding half the income puts a lot of people under the threshold.
Standard rebates can range from $250 - $650.
