Royersford Borough Passes $2.5M Budget

The 2013 budget passed unanimously.

Royersford Borough Council passed its 2013 budget at Tuesday's meeting with no changes from its proposed version. The budget will include an increase of 1.5 mills for homeowners in the borough.

It also includes an increase in sewer fees, from a minimum charge of $72 per quarter to a minimum of $77 per quarter.

The borough's operating budget is just over $2.5M, and by township code they are required to present a balanced budget. The tax increase does just that.

Council also announced the hiring of Craig Keffer, who will start working as the public works director and fire marshal on Dec. 17.

Keffer replaces retiring public works director Conrad Bauer,  and fills the fire marshal post left vacant by the sudden passing of Harry Van Horn, Jr. in August.

The Parks and Recreation Committee will be announcing winners of the borough-wide house decorating contest this weekend. New signs for the winners were painted recently and are waiting in borough hall for the winners.

The board also voted to appoint Linda Cordenner, a resident of Third Avenue in Royersford, to the Parks and Recreation Committee.

The rest of the brief meeting consisted of regular committee reports. Council will meet again on Thursday, Dec. 27.
