Spring City Republicans Unofficially Sweep

Results from this year's race for borough council.

In a heated and spirited race for three borough council seats in Spring City, the Republicans - two incumbents and one newcomer - look to be the unofficial winners as of 11:00 p.m. Tuesday night.

The seats of Vice President Rich Beard and board members Donald Shaner and Micheal Petak were up for grabs Tuesday. Beard did not run for re-election. Potentially taking his place will be Republican candidate Euguene Sweeney.

According to councilman Jim Burns, the results will not be official until December, after absentee ballots are counted and letters are sent out.
