PJP II Student Seriously Injured in Golden Panthers/Methacton Warriors game

Pope John Paul II junior Nick Howarth was transported via medical helicopter to University of Pennsylvania hospital for serious injuries at the weekend game.

According to a Times Herald article, Pope John Paul II High School junior Nick Howarth was seriously injured while playing in a football game against Methacton High School, Sept. 22. 

The article states that Howarth, “was sandwiched on a kickoff return,” and lay immobilized on the field for approximately 20 minutes before being taken away in an ambulance. Howarth was said to be responsive, but was transported by medical helicopter to the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, and was listed in serious condition.

The PJP II Golden Panthers sustained another injury, according to the Herald, when its QB, junior James Bleming, was hit by the goal line and left with a collarbone injury, which may be season ending.

The Methacton Warriors defeated the Golden Panthers 35-13 in their first victory of the season in the Pioneer Athletic Conference.
