One New Board Member Elected to SFASD School Board

Results from this year's race for the school board.

As anticipated, incumbent candidates David Shafer, Bernard Pettit, Julie Mullin and Mark Dehnert, who all ran unopposed for four of the five open school board seats, were voted back into office today. In addition, Dawn Heine was elected to fill the seat left by former board president Donna Williams, who served on the board for 16 years. Here are the results:

  • Shafer - 2,336
  • Pettit - 2,306
  • Mullin - 2,168
  • Heine - 2,148
  • Dehnert - 1,432

Williams said she enjoyed her time serving the Spring-Ford Area School District.

"I've been really honored to serve that time period," she said. "It's been a wonderful learning experience and I've had the pleasure of working with wonderful teachers, administrators and past boards."

What's next for Williams? She's not sure, but she's not ruling out the opportunity of serving the district again in some way.

"What's next?" she said. "I don't know. Some rest. Some time, but, you know when you have the itch, I'll probably be looking to do something else. So, I am available."
